Chocolate Skin and Coconut Oil

brown skin women, kinky hair, natural hair care products

Nina Simone’s “I Put A Spell On You” serenaded the air.

Visions of her chocolate skin began to appear.

Remnants of her ebony eyes began to glare.

The scent of coconut oil adorned her kinky hair.

I felt the magic in the air,

as she came near.

I was thinking to myself “if I should ever fall in love again, she’s the apparent heir.”

I played it cool,

as we exchanged a stare.

Truthfully; my heart began to flare,

in the presence of her flair.

She had a smile bright enough to melt the ice water in my veins.

The sparkle in her eyes was as if she had sunbeams shining out of her brain.

Her milk chocolate skin was as smooth as shea butter,

her plainness was flyer than a plane;

somewhere on a higher plain.

I remember thinking “she lives golden”

as I adored her fane.

Eyes explored her frame;

I remember thinking to myself “she’s royal.”

I remember when I was a hopeless romantic.

I remember this wonderful weirdness in her presence.

I remember thinking “she’s a beautiful soul and she’s loyal.”

I remember when I was a hopeless romantic.

I remember the time I said “I’m gonna make you mine.”

I remember the moment I fell in love with chocolate skin and coconut oil.

When you take time to become acquainted with the specters within, your positive and negative energy becomes magical. You have the power to do the impossible; examine your conscience to bring forth the hidden treasures buried deep within. –@StevieStreets | #codeofthestreets #Introspection #MysticalNights

Suicide & Semicolons

mental health, semicolon symbolism, suicide prevention awareness

This is dedicated to all the people that have contemplated suicide;

this is for those that tend to shy away from the semicolon.

This is for when you have suicidal thoughts yet you decide to keep going.

This is dedicated to the people that have emulated the infamous semicolon.

This is for that moment when you could have ended your sentence yet you decided to keep going.

This is dedicated to the moment you became elated by the sharp symbolisms depicted in a semicolon.

This is for all the people that have painted colorful portrayals of suicide with semicolons.

This is dedicated to that line on that suicide note;

that line where the period was replaced with a semicolon.

This is for all the people that have struggled with depression;

this is for all the people that have struggled with semicolons.

This is dedicated to suicidal exclamations of “what’s the point of life?”

This is for when depression wants you to put an exclamation point on your life;

those exclamatory points in life that call for semicolons.

This is for all the people with lower levels of serotonin.

This is dedicated to the people that understand the periods in life

when you question life;

those periods in life that call for semicolons.

This is for mental health awareness;

this is for suicide and semicolons.

This is for suicide prevention awareness;

this is for suicide and semicolons.

Proper Perspective

I never knew you could board a commercial airline with an animal head.

I can’t even make it pass TSA with 3.5 oz of Sportin’ Waves for my head.

I guess my perception is off.

At times, I don’t see the prospective benefits of the law.

Yeah, my perception is off.

At times, I am compelled to put my concerns into proper perspectives.

In my proper perspective;

I applaud the major airlines for taking action against the illegal killing of African-Animals.

I wonder when the business sector will take action against the illegal killing of African-Americans.

I imagine the public outcry of Black Lives Matter

does not really matter…

At times, I don’t see the prospective benefits of the law.

I guess my perception is off.

When my perception is off,

I take a step back to see new perspectives.

In my proper perspective;

I see past the optical illusions,

I hear what is not said amidst the confusion.

At times, I don’t see the prospective benefits of the law.

Yeah, my perception is off.

When my perception is off,

I investigate to gain proper perspectives.

In my proper perspective;

I see they love animals,

it’s only the jungle bunnies they hate.

In my proper perspective;

I see you will get sentenced for fighting a pit bull

before you receive an indictment for killing an African-American in the United States.
