Teen Dating Abuse…
the mirror image of your
domestic abuse.

When there’s violence
amongst parents, it tends to
plaque the children too.

When mom is abused,
daughters tend to think it is
supposed to happen.

When dad’s abusive,
son’s tend to believe that it
is acceptable.

WHY I STAYED

Sabrina, Why’d You Stay?

“I stayed…

because I’m afraid to be alone,

and he’s so romantic when his anger is gone,

and I tried to leave but I feel guilty when I’m gone,

It’s Complicated! Don’t you think I will leave when I Can?

Why I Stayed? You wouldn’t understand!

WHY I STAYED

Sabrina, Why’d You Stay?

“I stayed…

because being someone’s everything is some intoxicating shit,

and everybody’s been smacked; he would never hit me with a closed fist,

and we’ve been together for years; I couldn’t take another disastrous relationship.

Love Conquers All! He will change for my love; I love MY MAN.

Why I Stayed? You wouldn’t understand!

WHY I STAYED

Sabrina, Why’d You Stay?

“I stayed…

’cause being alone with someone is better than being alone by myself,

and after my father left us, my mother chose drugs; I Was By Myself,

and when my mother’s boyfriend raped me, she blamed me, I WAS BY MYSELF.

He Was There! He loved me when I HAD NO ONE ELSE: I love MY MAN.

Why I Stayed? You wouldn’t understand!”
