This was my second major breakup…
For weeks, I couldn’t wake up
without thoughts of the cutie in the café reading The Coldest Winter ever.
I could remember clear as day,
she was sippin’ Seattles Best, her smile was the warmest ever.
We shared books, music, videos, and coffeehouse culture in the café…
and then came the breakup.
This was my second major breakup…
My bookshop love left me lonely.
Sure, there were other bookstores
but nothing compared to the homie.
I like BIG BOOKS and I cannot lie,
I had to go online to order books after the breakup…
And I’m a classic man,
I couldn’t cope with Nooks and Kindles;
l was forced to rekindle an old flame.
Yeah… I had my coffeehouse girl,
she rocked my world
but the love was not the same.
She liked the movie,
I liked the book,
the two are not one in the same.
The game’s not the same,
I want that ol’ thang back…
I need a special girl in this computerized (digital love) world.
Nowadays they serenade Computer Love
with no Roger, no Zapp;
they shooby doo bop to the tune of audiobooks and apps,
it’s breaking my heart.
The game’s not the same,
I want that ol’ thang back…
trips down memory lane
had me thinking about my librarian love;
ahh my lovely literati,
she’s always had my heart.
The game’s not the same,
I want that ol’ thang back…
Yeah… I miss Borders Bookstores
but the library,
ahh my beloved bookspace,
she’s far more than a pretty bookface.
She’s the one that turned my heart into a MakerSpace,
to keep our shared interest in place.
She’ll always have special place in my heart,
truthfully speaking,
my library love is the reason why I love language arts.
